Longing for Summer

I'm so over this cold February we've been having. During the cold winter months, I'm house-ridden half the time. I don't like being out at night in the cold. I need to be reminded of what 80 degree weather feels like right now! Bahamas is calling my name. Maybe the hubby will grant me my wish of spending my April birthday on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. We could enjoy our stay at The Cove Atlantis and then take an excursion to swim with the dolphins, jet ski, and lay on the beach. He took me last year and we had such a great time. Bahamas is definitely one of my favorite vacation spots!
I'm already packed and ready to go - in my head, lol!

Resolutions

We all are familiar with the "new years" and making resolutions. I simply see resolutions as goals. Every successful person has goals.

So one of my New Year's Resolutions was to read one book a week. I like to read mostly non-fiction and self-help books. Considering I don 't work a 9 to 5 and I like to read anyway, I thought this goal would be feasible, right? Wrong! Its already February 22nd and I have completed a total of 1 whole book. Shame on me! I have got to do better.

I believe in self education and frequent the public library often. I will often check-out 4-5 books and before I can even get through one its time to return the books. I'm not as motivated to read a book when I have easy access reality tv and youtube; I've discovered so many good blogs lately as well. But I pledge this day that I will read at least two hours a day to begin with. I figured out that if I take care of all the necessities (meditating, exercising, flossing...) in the beginning of my day it makes it that much easier to achieve my daily goals.

If you are struggling to keep your resolutions here are a few suggestions I've read on essence.com :
1) think small : instead of pledging to lose 50 pounds by summer, try 10 pounds
2) write it down : "writing brings awareness and clarity to your life"
3) be specific : don't say I'm gonna read more this year, say I'm gonna read one book a month
4) tell a friend : for moral support and accountability
4) reward yourself (my personal fav, lol) : treat yourself to something that you enjoy that does not contradict your resolution

So, my book of choice for this week is The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life.

Wish me luck on my reading goal journey!

FYI: Anyone can become an expert on any topic by reading a book every month on the topic for one year and by studying the topic every day for 30 minutes.

Candlemania

I love candles!

My latest indulgence has been Bath and Body Work's 4oz candles. On my trip to the mall last week I made it my business to stop by Bath and Body Works to check out there latest sale. Fortunately for me they where having a 2 for $10 sale on their candles. Needless to say, I purchased a couple of the scents that captured my "scentalizing" interest.

I have these candles lit EVERYWHERE in my home; master bathroom, master bedroom, TV room, kitchen, office... I have Fresh Lemon lit as I type.

I love, love, love a good scent! (honing in my inner Gail King, lol)

These will definitely be a staple in my home and when I travel. I plan on packing one or two to light in my hotel room on my next vacation.

A few of my favorite scents thus far from the spring collection are Island Margarita (the name says it all) and Fresh Lemon (I love the scent of lemon) and from the arometherapy collection, Sandalwood Fig (my bedroom fix).

If you love the ambiance a good scented candle brings, you will love these.

Alexander Wang

I have recently discovered a new love and his name is Alexander Wang!

Well, upon perusing one of my favorite websites, I discovered this genious of a designer. Many of you fashionista's most likely are aware of "Alexander Wang The Great", but I have just recently falling in love with his shoe collections. I'm definitely in luv with the Alla Wedge Slides. I wonder just how comfortable they are! Does it really matter when they look this good?

I love a nice, elegant wedge anyday of the week.

He knows me! His shoes are designed for me!
I'm already putting outfits together in my head...

Yours Truly

I love fashion, traveling, and learning new things, which are just a few of my interests. I simply take pleasure in being myself and establishing my own standards.
